How to Choose a Deck Box for Your Trading Card Game

A deck box is the case your deck lives in between games. A good one keeps sleeves clean, corners sharp and cards together in your bag. Here is what to check before you buy.
1. Capacity
Count your deck plus any extras you carry, then add the thickness of your sleeves. Double-sleeved cards take up much more room than unsleeved cards. A box rated for 100+ sleeved cards suits most standard constructed decks.
2. Closure
- Magnetic lids open with one hand and snap shut, so cards stay in.
- Flip-top designs make it easy to lift the deck straight out.
3. Interior lining
A soft lining reduces rubbing on sleeves when the box is carried around. It also helps the deck sit snugly so it does not slide.
4. Structure
A rigid box keeps its shape in a full backpack, which protects the cards inside from being squeezed.
5. Extra storage
If you carry dice, tokens or counters, a dedicated case with compartments keeps them separate from your cards. See HoloHive accessories.
